It is worn in all [[Aerospace]] vehicles even though life support is available in all [[Federation]] vehicles. Some pilots reduce or even turn off life support systems to conserve energy during combat. The emergency life support system will generate oxygen for 6 hours, and is plugged directly into the flight suit or helmet. <br /> <br /> The remainder of the vest contains a holster for a [[Type_2_Hand_Phaser|hand Phaser]], a [[Combat Tricorder]], standard combat ration pack, standard combat medical kit, knife, PM-1 locator beacon, [[Communicator|communicator]], an emergency inflatable shelter, 2 half-liter pouches of drinking water, and a respirator/filter mask.
