'''Tarsas III''' is a stereotypical [[Class M]] planet, the third of four located in the Tarsas System in the [[Beta Quadrant]]. Thick, lush forests cover about two-thirds of the planet, running right up to the polar ice caps. There is a diverse and rich plant and animal life, making the planet a botanical and zoological haven.

Tarsas III was discovered in 2158 during a routine system survey by the [[United Earth Space Probe Agency]]'s ''Aladdin 6'' long-range explorer. Three years later, the first [[Federation]] scientists set foot on the surface, followed by nearly 30,000 colonists from eight different worlds. [[Starfleet]] built up a large logistics base there, a training facility, a R&R center, and ultimately added [[Starbase 74]] in orbit by 2358.

The planet's economy is as diverse as its ecosystems, relying on both agricultural and industrial business. A number of technological companies are based here, making everything from isolinear chips to the [[Argus class| Argus Array]]s seen over numerous Federation worlds. Construction and tourism are also major contributors, and there is a championship [[Parrises Squares]] team, the Tarsas Tornados.

[[Vulcan]]s make up over a third of the present population, with [[Human]]s, [[Troyian]]s, and [[Bynar]]s the next most numerous on the planet.
